To celebrate and kick my April Poetry Friday posts off, I thought I'd give y'all a sneak peek at my poem in Bless Our Pets, edited by the glorious Lee Bennett Hopkins, coming April 16 and available for pre-order now! Isn't Lita Judge's art just perfect?!

I was honored to be invited by Lee to contribute to this anthology, which wound up being one of the last that he compiled. Lee had a huge impact on me and my writing career, and I will forever be grateful to him.

Fun fact: I've never had a hamster as a pet! Lee assigned me the animal, and I'm so glad he did. Without Lee, I doubt I'd ever have created a poem with a hamster as its subject.
